Restorative Yoga

Alessandro Gozzi

Alessandro has been practising Yoga since the mid-nineties. He has completed training with David Life and Sharon Gannon, creators of Jivamukti Vinyasa Yoga, and at Laughing Lotus Yoga School in New York.

Alessandro draws from a background in endurance sports, Aikido, Shiatsu, as well as experience with injury and dis-ease. He was an Aikido teacher for many years.

Alessandro’s classes are physically demanding, mentally stimulating with the intention to affect heart, head and spirit. Emphasizing gracefulness, concentration, safety and laughter, he aims to inspire others to “walk the razor's edge” – the edge being their potential.


Alessandro teaches Jivamukti Yoga, Lotus Flow, Vinyasa Yoga and Hot Power Yoga.

Alessandro is a senior teacher registered with Yoga Alliance UK. 

Alessandro is the co founder of YogaVenue and the Spiralling Crow Vinyasa Yoga Teacher Training course.

Katie Phelps

Katie first discovered yoga while at University - she found it helped with the stress of deadlines and exams and was a great antidote to sitting at a desk all day. It was after graduating and moving to London, that Katie began practising Vinyasa and fell in love with this dynamic style of yoga. In 2013, Katie completed her Teacher Training with Sally Parkes and has since furthered her learning with Alessandro at YogaVenue.
In March 2015, Katie trained to teach Restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater. She believes this gentle, nurturing style is a fantastic complement to any yoga practice.
Katie is inspired by the way yoga has something new to teach us each time we step onto the mat. Her classes are therefore designed to offer students the opportunity to explore and develop their practice in a safe, supportive, uplifting and fun environment.


Katie teaches Vinyasa, Hatha, Yin and Restorative yoga.

Derek Elliott

Derek was prodded into going to his first Yoga class by his daughters. Now when they complain that he has become a Yoga obsessive, he knows where to point the finger! He has complemented his martial arts and meditation background with Yoga Teacher Trainings in Hatha and Restorative Yoga at Triyoga London with Joey Miles and Anna Ashby and Astanga Yoga with John Scott. Derek believes that the best teacher is the student themselves and that the teacher’s job is to provide the best conditions in which this can flourish.

Restorative Yoga is a slow practice of largely seated or lying down postures. Props, bolsters and blankets are used to help find ease in each asana (posture), inviting mental and physical release. In the Restorative Yoga class passive, restful asanas are typically held between 5 and 20 minutes. This allows the body to soften, open and relax deeply, and the mind to become quieter. In this restful state, the nervous system is given the chance to shift into ‘repair and renew’ mode, making Restorative Yoga a profoundly nurturing practice. It is particularly helpful during times of stress and fatigue and is the perfect complement to a regular Hot or Vinyasa practice.

Please wear or bring warm layers to class including a pair of socks.

Restorative classes are 90 minutes long. All ability levels welcome. Classes are held at room temperature. Gentle music is played in these classes.
