Hot 26

This class is taught by:

Caroline Gozzi

Caroline is the reason that YogaVenue exists. Her love of Yoga and desire to bring this to Oxford led to the creation of the studio. Caroline has been teaching Yoga since 2005 and has completed trainings in Bikram Yoga with Bikram Choudhury in Los Angeles and Vinyasa Yoga with the Laughing Lotus Yoga School in New York. Caroline is a senior Yoga Teacher registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals UK, and is the Co-Founder of YogaVenue and the Spiralling Crow Teacher Training School.

Caroline finds that Yoga enriches and energises her life, be it on the mat, teaching class, or out in the world in daily life. When Caroline is not at YogaVenue she can be found sprinting after a very fast toddler in the local park.

Caroline teaches Hot 26, Hot Power Flow Yoga, Hot HIIT Flow and Vinyasa Yoga.

Kristin Bergman

Kristin came to Yoga to help her bad back and poor posture while completing her PhD. Her life was transformed when in 2007 she completed Bikram Yoga teacher training, and she went on to become a two-time UK Yoga Asana Champion (2009, 2011). She carries with her a wealth of knowledge about the series, posture mechanics, and working with the spine.

Kristin is a guest teacher at YogaVenue and returns monthly to teach Hot 26 Yoga conditioning, Hot 26 Intermediate and Hot 26.

Heidi Muschallik

Heidi started practising Bikram Yoga in 2000. Yoga became her full-time work in 2003 after she completed her Bikram Yoga teacher training in Los Angeles. What Heidi absolutely loves about teaching is seeing how Yoga benefits those who dedicate their time and energy to it – helping them to improve their mental, physical and emotional health, and also, how Yoga can be available to anyone, regardless of ability. She aims to share the invigorating and energising aspects of Bikram with her students.

Heidi teaches Hot 26 and Intermediate Hot Power Flow Yoga.

Kee Chan

Having suffered from sciatic pain for a few years, Kee tried Bikram Yoga and has never looked back. Kee completed his Bikram Yoga teacher training in Los Angeles in 2012 and went on to complete his Vinyasa Yoga and Hot Power Flow trainings with Spiralling Crow at YogaVenue in 2015. Kee aims to pass on the the physical and mental healing benefits of hot Yoga to his students.

Kee teaches Hot 26 and Hot Power Flow Yoga.

Luka Baggio

Luka found Bikram Yoga in her second year of studying drama at University. After her first class she realised she was pursuing the wrong career, and started to squeeze classes into her busy schedule before completing her Bikram Yoga teacher training in 2013. Luka went on to train in Vinyasa Yoga and Hot Power Flow with Spiralling Crow at YogaVenue in 2015 and completed her Yin Yoga teacher training with Sarah Low in 2017. Luka says Yoga has absolutely transformed her life, silencing her constant mind chatter and allowing her to breathe and enjoy life in the present moment.

Luka teaches Hot 26, Hot 56, Hot Power Flow Yoga and Yin Yoga.

Our Hot 26 Yoga class is a series of static Hatha Yoga asanas (postures) and breathing exercises developed by Bikram Choudhury. This set sequence of 26 asanas and 2 breathing exercises are performed in each class. Each posture stretches, strengthens and prepares the body for the next to maximise oxygenation and detoxification; all together they work every part of the body. The beauty of practising the same movements in every class means you are able to see how your body is changing over time. You never get bored and you always learn something new in every class! Hot Yoga is practised in a room heated to around 40°C. The heat warms up the body allowing you to stretch into the asanas safely while at the same time aiding detoxification and increasing the cardiovascular element of the class. This class includes static asanas, which means you do not flow from one to the next (no vinyasas or downward facing dogs).

There are numerous benefits from a regular Hot Yoga practice, including weight loss, improved muscle tone, strength and flexibility, reduced back/knee pain, better concentration and focus and lower stress levels. The class is suitable for all levels from complete beginners to advanced students. Be prepared to sweat and have fun!

Hot 26 classes are 90 minutes long. All ability levels welcome. Classes are held in a heated room (temperature 40 – 41.5 °C). These classes are without music.
