Vinyasa Yoga (Advanced level)

This class is taught by:

Alessandro Gozzi

Alessandro has been practising Yoga for over 25 years. He completed his training in 2007 at Jivamukti Yoga with founders David Life and Sharon Gannon, and has gone on to train with Laughing Lotus Yoga School in New York, and in Restorative Yoga with Judith Hanson Lasater. Alessandro is a senior teacher registered with Yoga Alliance Professionals UK, and is the co-founder of YogaVenue and the Spiralling Crow Teacher Training School.

Alessandro teaches classes that are physically demanding, mentally stimulating with the intention to affect heart, head and spirit. Emphasizing gracefulness, concentration, attention to detail, safety and laughter, he aims to inspire others to explore the edge of their potential and push the limits of who they are as individuals. Alessandro is particularly interested in how yoga can support us in our daily life. Alessandro draws from a background in competitive endurance sports, Aikido, Shiatsu, as well as injury, sickness and dis-ease. He has been an Aikido teacher for many years.

Alessandro teaches Vinyasa Yoga, Jivamukti Yoga, Advanced Vinyasa, Restorative Yoga and Hot Power Flow Yoga.

Vinyasa is a style of Yoga with an emphasis on breathing and healthy alignment in the poses.
Throughout class, each Asana (posture) flows into the next and the transition between Asanas is just as important as the postures themselves. The flowing Asana sequences (Vinyasa Krama) are dynamic and creative as well as ever-changing depending on the focus of each class.
This class allows those with a regular practice* to experience a more intense Vinyasa Yoga. This class introduces more challenging Asanas. Moving at a faster or slower tempo, this class builds stamina and strength while emphasising grace, precise placement and alignment. Our aim is to be able to move into and out of each Asana with balance, a quiet mind and a firm connection to the Earth as well as to actively seek the relationship between breath and movement. By turning up the intensity, we can explore the place where our breath, mind and movement come together.
The focus is not on tying ourselves into Yogic knots but classes are likely to include some more advanced Asanas, especially inversions.

This class requires a regular advanced Yoga practice. If you are new to Vinyasa Yoga, or do not have a regular experienced practice yet it is best to attend one of our other classes.

This class is 105 minutes long.
