This thorough full-body workout was originally designed to rehabilitate and help prevent future injury be applied throughout everyday life.
Mat Pilates is based on the original exercises developed by Joseph Pilates developed to strengthen his own body as a young man. It has grown hugely in popularity over the years and a great compliment to yoga as well as a movement practise on its own.
Mat work is a great choice for all levels of Pilates practitioners because they are low intensity and the exercises not only can build in difficulty, but every exercise can also be modified to decrease or increase the level of challenge.
Here at YV our Dynamic Mat Pilates classes also incorporate stretching and mobility, flowing like our yoga classes so that you can use the session to ground and cultivate headspace.
