Vinyasa Yoga is a physically and mentally stimulating practice for all levels of experience and ability. Vinyasa classes at YogaVenue focus on moving mindfully with the breath and being grounded in the present moment.

Vinyasa means ‘to place in a special way’ and our Vinyasa classes explore balance, breath, and connection to the earth in a way that helps you investigate how to move safely and gracefully through asanas (postures) and transitions. You’ll be offered ways to modify both asanas and transitions throughout the class to help you practice at the level that’s right for you. Expect flowing sequences which will include sun salutations, warrior shapes, balances, twists, backbends, and forward folds. Mudras (hand gestures) are often incorporated into our Vinyasa flows.

While the physical practice of Yoga is an important element of Vinyasa classes at YogaVenue, we aim to explore Yoga in its wider sense. For this reason, our Vinyasa classes will include pranayama (breathwork) and meditation, Yogic scripture is often discussed and we might chant Sanskrit mantras at the beginning and end of classes; don’t worry, you don’t need to be able to sing! Our Vinyasa classes are usually sequenced around a monthly theme that draws together the physical practice of Yoga, its historical and philosophical roots, contemporary ideas, and how Yoga relates to our life off the mat.

Vinyasa classes are practiced at room temperature and range from 60, 75 or 90 minutes. Check the schedule for individual class lengths. All ability levels are welcome. Music is integral to the practice so expect a great soundtrack to your class. Hands-on assists may be offered in these classes. Please do let the teacher know before or during the practice if you’re not comfortable receiving physical assists.
