Wise Investment

Do you wait to get unwell before going to a doctor?

OR

Do you proactively manage your health to make sure you minimise the chances of getting sick and need to go to the doctor?

Eating healthy, exercising, managing the work life balance etc.. These things are all about proactively managing your health and well-being. They don’t have to cost money but sometimes they do, is investing in your health and well-being a bad thing? No it isn’t and rather than seeing it as a “cost” maybe a better way of looking at it is an “investment” or a “saving”.

What do we mean? Let's focus on yoga, because this is what we know a lot about.

We know yoga can help hugely with our physical and mental health. Let’s say you’ve got a bad back, you start classes at YV and come 2 – 3 times a week. After a few weeks, your back feels so much better and the back pain is gone. You feel stronger, more stable, you sleep better, you are more energetic and less stressed and grumpy because your back doesn’t hurt anymore. Plus you aren’t popping painkillers to help with the pain. All of this from £59 a month, cheaper than a night out in Oxford!

Now if you choose differently and didn’t do yoga to help with your bad back. That back pain continues, it gets worse, you sleep badly, you are grumpy and in pain, you move less as it hurts and in the end take time of work and eventually go to the doctor who prescribes you more painkillers and adds your name to a long waiting list for an apt with a physio. You decide to pay for private physio sessions instead to help. Let's assume a private physio apt costs you at least £50 a session and you need 1 a week for 4 weeks to get you started.  That is a cost of at least £200 for the first month and that doesn’t include the cost of the time off work and other activities and events that you can’t put a monetary value on that you’ve missed out. Plus you’ve still got a bad back.

So when you are thinking about whether you should buy that next class pack, or sign up for a membership and are worried about the cost, remember you are investing in your health and well-being and the benefits from this are wide reaching and long term. We are always here to help you find the right package that works with your lifestyle and budget. A membership at YV costs from as little as £59 a month (and if you come to class at least 3 times a week that works out as £4.53 per class – a bargain!). Not only do you get unlimited access to our classes at the studio but also online, discounts on workshops and yoga clothing and accessories too.

As one of our yogis Tim said on his 10th year anniversary at the studio “Yoga has made him 10 years Yoga”. Now isn’t that enough of an incentive to book into your next yoga class at YV?
