As a student of yoga, it’s easy to see some postures as more advanced or difficult. There were times when I avoided certain postures completely because I thought I didn’t have what it takes to get into the posture.
These days, I no longer think of postures as advanced or basic. I see postures as building on similar principles of alignment and requiring similar muscular actions. I find myself in a posture, thinking “my shoulders are doing exactly what they practiced in downward-facing dog” or “I’m in a backbend but my legs still feel like they are in mountain pose”.
If you are new to full-wheel (urdva dhanurasana) or want to learn more about the principles of alignment and muscular actions in the posture, come along to the workshop on July 27th. You might just surprise yourself with what is possible.
We will spend some time dedicated towards understanding what is required in terms of flexibility and muscular actions to find a balanced curve in the spine. You’ll practice a tailored warm up to prepare you for full-wheel and give you time to explore the required actions. Expect to see some partner work and plenty of blocks and straps to help us along the way towards making a wheel.
For a chance to explore wheel pose in greater detail and to gain an understanding of the foundations and the basics to help you on your journey to Wheel Pose, come along to Susanne's workshop on Sat, 27 Jul 2019 at 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm. Click here for more information and to reserve a space.
